Why learn Business Analytics

It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in – data will always be in demand. Big Data has transformed modern business strategy, helping to cut costs, improve efficiency and spot opportunities for growth. The Australian Government predicts 12,000 new job openings for analysts over the next four years, and SEEK benchmarks the average salary at $94,000. All signs point to one thing: analysts are in demand.

Here’s more good news: foundational data skills are applicable in almost any field. There’s no technical knowledge required. All you need is a computer and an eye for numbers.

How does it work

This program is for anyone who wants to use data to make better business decisions. It’s been specifically designed for those with a non-technical background, built with cutting-edge content from Udacity, and unrivalled localised support and mentorship from RMIT Online and our industry partners. You’ll learn how to collect, visualise and analyse data, then model those numbers using real business scenarios. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to communicate data findings to stakeholders using Tableau.

The course is 100% online. It’s a mix of online tutorials, webinars and industry mentoring. Assessment is project-based – you’ll be designing dashboards to calculate financial metrics, drawing insights from data visualisations, and building Excel models to analyse business outcomes. It’s a hands-on look at real world data analysis.

Margarita is a senior analyst with over 7 years experience across market research, analytics, and financial services. As a lead Tableau developer, her current role also focuses on advocating and empowering business users to use visual analytics, building up internal Tableau education programs and the nitty gritty details of server infrastructure. Passionate about people, data and the positive social impact the two combined can achieve, she’s also a current Board Member of Engineers Without Borders Australia and is registered on Tableau Service Corps.

Kale Temple is a co-founder and practise director at Intellify where he leverages expertise in data science and machine learning to architect solutions that empower business performance and growth. He has consulted with a number of the world’s leading corporate and government organisations from over 5 years. Since 2014, he has co-founded and scaled two successful technology start-ups and as Data Scientist & Consultant at Agile BI, played a key role in building the business from the ground up into a world-leading Microsoft Power BI Partner. He holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences (Economics) and Masters of Economics (Economics & Econometrics) from the University of Sydney.
