By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped with the skills and qualification to embark on a new career in law and related fields. The Juris Doctor is accredited by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board and, once your practical legal training is completed, leads you to admission to the legal profession in Australia.

Program structure

Our Juris Doctor means that you can customise your degree and study a number of unique electives to align with your personal and professional aspirations.  

This program contains 24 courses that can be undertaken through a variety of different study loads. Please reach out to our Student Success team if you need additional support.  

The Juris Doctor contains subjects with pre-requisites, please check each subject for details. Students must start with the LAW2396 Introduction to the Australian Legal System and Legal Methods as this is the pre-requisite for all core subjects. 

Due to the nature of this program you will be required to virtually attend timetable classes. You will be required to attend online exams. These exams are invigilated and you will be required to see these at specific times. 

To graduate Juris Doctor students must complete:  

  • 18 core subjects  

  • 7 approved law electives

  • Introduction to the Australian Legal System and Legal Methods  
  • Fundamentals of Contract Law

  • Criminal Law  
  • Jurisprudence 
  • Advanced Contract Law

Select and complete 1 course from the list of Approved Law Option courses at the end of this program structure.
